HALLOWEEN TRIVIA

Did you know that…?
… the modern American 'Trick or Treat' originated from school boards?
Young people were using the night time to commit pranks in the neighbourhoods which escalated into vandalism and in some cases, violence. In response, the school boards, parent and town councils came up with a safe activity for the children. The businesses and locals cooperated in giving the children candies to keep them out of mischief.
…the word Halloween evolved from All Hallow's Eve?
Christianity took the majority of its holidays from Pagan traditions and renamed them, one being the "All Saints Day." The Celts started their new day at the sunset of the previous night and this became known as the evening of All Hallows (hallowed is a synonym for saint). From there it went to All Hallow's Eve, and then on to Halloween.
Amazing, isn’t it? Compiled By Paula Cecilia Camille T. Rodriguez, II-Giustizia
